| Fibria negotiates sale of Piracicaba Unit to Oji Paper
Fibria has signed an exclusivity agreement with Oji Paper Co.Ltd., valid to September 29th, for negotiating the sale of the Piracicaba Unit (São Paulo state), for an estimated price of around US$ 313 million. The agreement was announced on August 11th.
Gathering of stakeholders in Vitória
Fibria held a Stakeholder Dialogue gathering in Vitória (Espírito Santo state), on August 11th and 12th, which was attended by 245 representatives of local communities, NGOs, academic institutions and other company stakeholders. The aim of the event was to build transparent dialogue and sustainable relations in the regions where the company operates. The topics of the debate were climate change, forest certification, small-scale farming, forest partnerships and local development. The guests also attended the theatrical show "O Auto de São Benedito", put on by 60 people from the Helvécia community, in Nova Viçosa (Bahia state), with support from Fibria.
Jacareí gets an air monitoring station
On August 10th, Fibria presented to Jacareí (São Paulo state) that municipality's first automatic air-quality monitoring station, which will assist the planning of pollution control. The station will be operated in partnership with CETESB (São Paulo State Company for Environmental Technology), INPE (National Institute for Space Research) and ETEC (Jacareí School of Agriculture).
The Forests Dialogue report available on the internet
A summary is available on the internet of the TFD forum held in June in Washington DC (USA). The Forests Dialogue (TFD) is an organization devoted to dialogue and promoting collaborate solutions in the forest sphere. The theme of the gathering was the relationship between the 4Fs: forests, food, fuel and fibers. Fibria was represented at the event by the general manager for Sustainability and Corporate Relations, Carlos Alberto Roxo, who is a co-leader of the TFD Steering Committee. Former Fibria CEO gains recognition
In August, Fibria's former CEO, Carlos Aguiar, was presented in São Paulo (São Paulo state) with the Latin-American CEO of the Year award, by RISI, the international agency well-known for providing information on the forest products industry. Aguiar will join Fibria's Board of Directors in 2012.
Fibria receives QualiAR award
On August 4th, the company received the QualiAR 2011, an award presented by the Espírito Santo State Federation of Transport Companies (FETRANSPORTES) to companies that show outstanding fleet performance when it comes to curbing pollution under the Transport Environmental Program - DESPOLUIR. Every item of equipment used in the forestry operations of the Posto da Mata Forestry Office (Bahia state) earned certification approval for the period July 2010 to June 2011.
